Thoughts on Federal Deficit

I find it amusing that many of the same people who are screaming about the Federal Deficit and using it as an issue to attack the President are many of the same people who ran up the deficit in the first place. The data shows that Government spending increased the most towards the end of World War II and has continued to rise almost every year since. So who has been doing all the spending the last 50 odd years? You guessed it, the very same group of people complaining about spending now - The baby boomer generation.

Now that they are reaching the retirement age, they are worried about the fiscal health of the country ie the holy grail - the social security system . They should of thought about that before they elected a government that went on a spending spree. For too long, America has lived with a sense of entitlement and enjoyed a unsustainable quality of life unknown to the rest of the world. America's motto needs to change from in "God We Trust" to "Nothing is for free". Only then will we get a Government that spends only what it can afford - not what they can pass onto the next generation.
