Death of 2 Icons

It was a bad day for the Pop Culture World after losing two of its biggest Icons. First, Farrah Fawcett succumbed to her long battle with cancer, then Michael Jackson died after his heart stopped. Although I was never a huge fan of either (I was in love with Jacklyn Smith - and was rocking more to Bruce and U2) but I can understand the sense of loss their fans feel. At the same time I feel sympathy for the media and stand-up comics who lost two of their biggest targets.

Yet in the end, what bothers me is that the death of an actress who publicly battled cancer till the end, is somehow superceded by the death of a singer who is best known for his freakish looks and behaviors. It makes me wonder - what does that say about us as a society?

Another Glorious Day in Boston

What a surprise to wake up and see that it was stil raining this morning. It feels as if its been like this for weeks. In any other time, this weather would really put me in a foul mood. But somehow I remain upbeat and continue to enjoy my birthday.

Tonight, the DarkOne had me over for dinner and the usual "entetainment", which didn't last long as I was home by early evening. These days the DarkOne has more issues than I do, mostly financial, which shamefully makes me feel better. Sorry DarkOne but its somewhat relieving to see the Haves feeling the pain too. Now they know how the rest of us feel.

Another Birthday, Another Lost Weekend

As usual, I started celebrating my birthday on Friday night even though it wasn't officially till Monday. I mean who wants to celebrate their birthday on a Monday? So it began with meeting Obamakin for dinner at Charleys on Newbury and ended with us going to Machine where I lost him early on and didn't find him till after closing when there was 2 queens fighting outside the club (what a drag).

Saturday theMan was out of town so I got the day to myself which always leads to trouble. Lunch with my buddy, Yummy, turned into an afternoon of foolishness which left me drained by the time he left. But after a power nap, I managed to drag my ass out of bed and hit Paradise for a night cap. Next thing I knew it was 3am Sunday morning and I was doing the "Walk of Shame" back to Somerville.

By Sunday, I was already feeling my age (44) so I spent the majority of the day hanging out with theMan who was back in town and catching up on my rest. But by night fall, I was bored and restless so I called Obamakin and we ended up playing pool in Davis Sq. Knowing myself, I took Monday off from work and spent my official birthday with theMan. After some morning sex, we hit the movies (took him to see Star Trek which is big since he hates Sci Fi Movies) and then had dinner at the new burger joint in Davis.

But, over dinner, theMan asked me if I got everything I wanted for my birthday and the image of PrettyEyez instantly flashed before my eyes. Yes, I lied to theMan, even though deep down I knew I didn't. I probably never would either but what I have now is good enough.

Where's My Vote?

As the people of Iran take to the streets after the disputed Presidential elections...

...it comes increasingly obvious that the Government will do whatever it takes to retain its control...

...which shouldn't be suprising from a Government ruled by the Supreme Leader Khamenei, which is like the Pope being in control of the United States and enforcing its religious beliefs on all it's citizens (banning abortion, gay rights and birth control).

The Best Thing About Pride

The best thing about Pride is the hot men walking around showing their stuff off.

Only some guys need to learn how to "look and not touch".
Happy Pride, Boston!

I Am Not A World Citzens

The words uttered by the former US Speaker, Newt Gingrich, at a Republican fundraiser in Washington this week. While the media plays up his comments I am left wondering something else.

Why, for a party in such shambles, and in need of a serious re-evaluation, is the GOP turning to the leaders who got them into this mess - Newt Gingrich and Dick Cheney?

Out of the Dog House

Praise the Lord - I am out of the dog house. TheMan returned to town today and was less hostile. Obviously, a day away has earned me a reprieve. At least, until the next time I piss him off.

Oh, the joys of being in a relationship.

Two More Examples of Whats Wrong with Gov't

Just two more symbols of what's wrong with Government today, both in Massachusetts and Nationally. Both connected in more ways the one. First, you have the former Speaker of the House, Salvatore DiMasi, being indicted on by the Feds for "violatings ranging from bribery to harrassment". The third Speaker in a row to go this route . Tells you alot about local politics in Massachusetts. It's corrupt from the top down.

Second, you have the former Mass Governor, Mitt Romney, giving a speech to the conservative bastion the Heritage Foundation, assailing the President for weakening America's national defense and mocking his world wide "apology tour". This from a guy that spent his life raiding companies and laying off workers who when he got bored decided he wanted to raid the biggest company of all - the US Government. This guy will do or say anything to get what he wants. If Republican Conservatives fall for his act they are in worse shape than I thought.

Just One of Those Days

You sense its going to be a bad day from the time you get up and it's downhill from that point. Starting with a petty squabble with TheMan, to another hell day at work - it all ended with the always inept T slowing down with another "disabled train ahead" on my ride home to Slummerville. The only good thing is theMan wasn't here when I got home. No energy to fight tonight - I just want to chill out.

At least until the beast gets home.
